Our Dog Training
At the Local Pack Dog Training, we highly value the importance of real world dog training to bring out the best in every dog, so that they may live in harmony with their owners. Dog training for us, here at the Local Pack, is not about teaching dogs a set of tricks. It's about teaching dogs that the stimulations of this busy world, and energies outside of them should not, do not, and will not effect how they feel inside. Dog training to us is about teaching a dog that maintaining a calm state of mind is a better way to live. We are not just focused on teaching your dog obedience commands, but more importantly to make good choices on their own, access a calm and relaxed state of mind, and live harmoniously with you, as their leader and guide. When all of these things are in place, you will see a significant improvement in your dog, and your relationship will transform into the type of bond you may have never imagined possible. It is the most beautiful thing in the world when there is trust and loyalty between a dog and their owner. Although, before you can even build that trust, accountability, and respect with the dog you must first build massive structure in their lives. Dog owning, is highly similar if not equivalent to parenting. After rules, boundaries, and structures have been set then you get that beautiful bond between dog and dog owner. We will train any dog, regardless of breed, shape, size or history. We are also one of a handful of trainers that, not only WILL work with, but successfully train and rehabilitate aggressive dogs that have a history of biting other dogs, and/or people. Here at the Local Pack Dog Training we believe every dog deserves a chance to learn and to live, and we believe every dog has the potential to be simply awesome. Local Pack Dog Training has a reputation with working with and rehabbing aggressive dogs. Most likely your dog will need intense training in order to prepare your dog for a group setting as well as certain safety protocols will need to be in place to protect your dog, other dogs and staff. If your dog has been kicked out of or refused entry into other training and daycare facilities, here at Local Pack Dog Training we have a program for you and your dog.

Dog Training Is A Journey!
applied knowledge is power | Quick tip:
Why it's Important that you lead your dog on their walks and not vice versa.
- First of all, understand that It's okay for you to reward your dog with a few minutes of loose leash walking (never pulling) ahead of you, so that they can sniff, do their business, and explore the outdoors. Although the majority of the time you want to be ahead or beside your dog.
- There is a lot of controversy on this topic but none the less, here at The Local Pack, we believe that dogs are social creatures that follow a strict dominance scale system. Pack mentality definitely comes into play when you're out on your walks with your dog. The leader of the pack is the protector of the pack. The leader of the pack always has absolute say and total control, and when a dog is leading you on a walk he is looking around for any potential dangers up ahead. This puts your dog on body guard mode (not literally). Having your dog in front of you on the walk, can seriously stress them out and cause anxiety, which then leads to unwanted behaviors such as; barking, leash pulling, jumping, aggression, etc.
- Having your dog walk beside you also creates a routine and builds discipline and trust. How? Allow us to explain. While raising your pup, IF raising a well behaved, submissive, and obedient pup is your goal, you'll have to create a strict schedule for them. There should be daily scheduled exercise, feeding time, discipline, rules, boundaries, and LASTLY affection. When your dog walks behind you, they have to actually slow down their stride and focus on paying attention to you and staying beside you (dogs naturally have longer strides than humans). This is mentally tiring for your dog but breeds massive discipline not only on the walks but in other areas of their lives as well. This enforces a dominant figure and guide in your pups life. If you are the alpha and in control outdoors, where there is nothing but distractions, then it will infinitely be easier for you to be the leader and in control inside of your home. After their walk, it is important that you reward them with food or affection for their obedience on the walk.
- Leading your dog creates trust between you and your pup. Trust is essentially what you want to have in order to create a beautiful relationship and bond with your dog.
